I have been retired from nursing since January 2004. I worked at the U of I Student Health for 30 years as the Assistant Nurse Manager. Before that I worked at Mercy Hospital as a Nursing Supervisor on the medical floor and 11/2 years in a private office with 2 doctors. I really enjoyed my nursing career and expecially working with the college students.

I met my husband, Frank,  in Iowa City when I was a student nurse and we were married in 1963 when I graduated. He is from Iowa City  and we have always lived here . 
 

My husband retired in August 2004. He was in law enforcement with the LC. Police Dept and then  an investigator for the Dept. of Corrections for his career. In fact, our son is the third generation in law enforcement on my husband's side of the family.

We both work part time for a local real estate developer and do their open houses. It is very flexible with our schedules, and gives us an outlet for something new and different.  

We have two children, a son and a daughter and four grandchildren, 3 boys and 1 girl. They live in the area so we attend all their events and enjoy them immensely. We also help out with appts etc. if their parents need us.

Our daughter is a substitute elementary education teacher and our son is  with the DCI.

I like to read, enjoy the Hawkeyes & travel, going to Arizona in the winter for a month or so. Although this year we are going to Florida and  our daughter and family will come over spring break to go to Disney and the theme parks. When I retired I went on a cruise to Alaska and took the train thru Denali National Park and ended in Fairbanks. It is truly the last frontier. I have a friend with a lake home iin Ws. and go there every summer and fall. We still want to go to the New England states, and I'd like to go to Ireland as my mother's family was from there.

It will be so nice to see everyone at our 50th! Thanks to the committee for all your work and planning for this big event !

Now that I will completely retire in October I will have more time to spend golfing, quilting and scrapbooking for my Grandchildren. 
We have 5 Grandchildren from ages 23 to 4, they keep us going all of the time.  Alot of sports events.  Jordan our oldest graduated from Central College in Pella Ia this past spring
and married his High School sweetheart, Amber Eaton. in August. They will stay in Pella.  Amber is teaching at Pella Christian School  and Jordan is teaching at the   Oskaloosa  ElementarySchool.Tyler is a Sr  at good ole WHS & he is active in Football, Wrestling & Track & was inducted into National Honor Society. as a Jr.  Chayse Nicole is a Freshman at WHS & is  active in Softball, Volleyball, Basketball & Track. Garrett is a Second grader at Benton Community in Van Horn Ia & Breck is 4yrs. old & in preschool.
As one of the 50th yr Class Reunion Committee members, I hope that we can have a record attendance  in 2010.  We are hoping to make this one a special reunion to remember.  See all of  you there in 2010.  Bev

i retired in oct. of 2005 from jasper county family services so i could babysit for our 2 grandsons . colton 8 yrs and braden turning 4 next week.  we have been in joplin since 1981.  i finally graduated in 1988 with a degree in elementary education.  we will be married 47 years in oct.  we have 2 living children Jimmy is 42and chrissy is 31.   we also have a granddaughter  holly who is 19.

i've been some sort of librarian most of my adult life, except for a few years when i was a "cellar rat" in my husband's small commercial winery.

i retired last fall and in the true meaning of retirement have done "not much" since. i do try to report to those who ask that i've accomplished at least one thing/day.  i use accomplish in the broadest sense of the term: today i went to the y, the jewelers, the grocery, and the library; later i'll go to the movies.  impressive, huh?

i travel some, and when my money runs out... well, by then, maybe i'll have "lost the plot" and will think that a homeless shelter is just another hostel and the cat food is pate.

I think our "now" photos look much better than our "then" photos. You notice how we are more mature and natural and not "posed". Just think how much better we will look in another 50 years. Also, think how many more marriages we can go through. Just think of the number of children we can have, each still standing around with their hand out. And grandchildren, oh so many birthdays to remember and the joy of christmas, each with a mountain of childhood toys. But enough for now, I must return to the barefooted clan here in Utah.

After 45 years of  teaching high school business I just retired in June of 2009 from Linn-Mar in Marion. I really enjoyed teaching and had a hard time deciding to quit.  I may continue with some substituting???   My wife retired from teaching last year and we will now spend most of our extra time being with our 2 children and 5 grandchildren in Chicago. Our son moved there about 20 years ago and the daughter followed 6 years later so we have spent sometimes 2 or 3 weekends a month driving for visits.  Several years ago we bought a condo in Bella Vista AR so we hope to spend some winter time there, where they play golf year around, and with other travels.
