Birthday: March 23, 1942 Marital Status: Widowed No. of Children: 2 From Marvin: Retirement is the best job I have ever had. I nap every day, attend fitness classes at the YMCA, shop when I want and give my VCR, DVD player and cable TV regular workouts. The best part, of course, is that I have my entire family, 2 sons and 3 grandchildren, my sister's entire family, and a foxy widow to share it with.
I am sorry I will not be with you at the reunion, but I have something like a phobia for traveling. I really can't stand it. I didn't even visit my mother very often.
I am sending a gift for every classmate family attending the reunion. Please ask Steve or Marg for yours.
Love and blessings to you all!

Birthday: June 08, 1942 Occupation: Retired Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 From Judy: Still married to the same guy! We have 3 kids, 10 grandkids, 1 stepgrandkid, 4 great grandkids and one on the way. Our family is scattered from Iowa to Nebraska, Texas, and California.
Our 4 year old granddaughter has brain cancer. Right now she is doing pretty good. She wanted a blanket for every child that come to the Children's Hospital at the cancer center. They give every child that comes in a blanket that's theirs to keep. So a group of us have been making these comforts" and we call it "Sierra's Project." We've had $1200, material, and some blankets already completed and donated to the project. We have between 200-300 blankets done and we still have more to make. We'll turn these over to Children's Miracle Network and they will give them to the hospitals as they are needed. This has been a fun project.
Lyle is still carpentering but says he is going to slow down in 2010. We'll see. He likes to make furniture for the grandkids. Right now he is making a dresser for Sierra.
We go to Texas to our daughters the first of January and stay til the first of April. We've made a lot of friends down there. We stay busy year round.

Birthday: February 19, 1942 Occupation: Retired Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 From Ruth:
After dropping out of Iowa State Teachers College to marry my husband of now nearly 49 years we started a family right away. Toni was born December 18, 1961, exactly ten months after our wedding day February 19, 1961. Just six days short of a year our second daughter Tina was born. Our son Scott was born four and a half years later and bringing up the end of the line was Corey our own little bombshell born August 6, 1970 the twenty-fifth anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. Our oldest daughter died in 1965. The other three all have BA degrees. The two sons are teachers and our daughter is an attorney. During their growing up years I was a kind of stay-at-home mom. I say kind of because from 1963 until 1991 I had an array of part time occupations. I did day care for my sister, worked at the root beer stand that used to be across from Sunset Park, was an Avon representative, a bank teller, a gas station attendant, prepared taxes, was a data entry operator for the state, and finally decided what I wanted to be after the forced state layoff in 1991. While looking for work I noticed the admissions office at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant and before I knew it I was a full time student working toward a BA degree. I entered classes at the end of January just before my 50th birthday and graduated in January 1996 with academic honors. Of course my major was Art, what else but in order to avoid unreasoning stares and because I had spent a number of years on a school board I also was enrolled in their education program. I taught only one year. I call it my million-dollar experience because I wouldn't do it again for a million dollars. It wasn't the teaching but rather a personality conflict with an administrator. The 2002-03 academic year I was a long-term sub and loved every moment of it. Had there not been so many other things on my plate and I had been younger I'd be in the classroom in a heart beat. Presently I still substitute for a couple schools and do the bookwork for our "mom and pop" business. As with any grandparent my five grandchildren are the joys of my life. There are four boys, Wes, Brady, Lucas, and Grant and one girl, Emily. They range in age from nineteen to five and of course are some of the best and smartest kids on the face of the earth.

or Marital Status: Married From Lynda:
Greetings, Class of 1960!Doesn’t seem possible it’s been 50 years.Following graduation, I worked for the Evening Journal, married Jim Miksch (class of 1959) in July of 1961, and moved to New Jersey in 1962, where Jim worked for Bendix Corp.In 1965 we moved to Peoria, IL, when Jim accepted a position at Caterpillar Tractor, then were transferred to Davenport, IA and back to Peoria. In June of 1972, we came back to Washington County to take over the family farm when Jim’s parents moved to Washington. We were a typical farm family, raising corn, soybeans, cattle, hogs, chickens and a large garden for many years.
I was a stay-at-home mom during those years and helped with every aspect of farming, from driving machinery to working with livestock. In the early 1990’s I went back to college and, in 1997, received my Bachelor of Liberal Science degree from the University of Iowa.I have been an abstractor with Washington Title & Guaranty in Washington and Keokuk Counties for almost 14 years, and am now semi-retired, working only 15 to 20 hours per week.Jim and I are still active farmers, raising corn and soybeans but are out of the livestock business.I help with planting and harvesting, (mostly running the combine in the fall).
We have three sons, two of which live in the Dallas, TX area, and one in Rochester, MN, and six grandchildren. We have watched many hockey games and figure skating performances in February and April in Minnesota, and dance recitals and Nutcracker performances during June and November in Texas.
We travel a great deal and have been in most states, plus Canada and Scotland. We are grateful for our good health and have no plans to be fully retired any time soon.
